‘Game Over’ from VV Brown’s debut album ‘Travelling Light’ is fresh off the bay of Island Records.
With a fast paced tempo and drums the musical protégé gives the new track a militaristic theme. This contrasts to her previous songs, like ‘Shark in the Water’ which experiments with jazzier tones.
Although the lyrics are somewhat cliché (focusing on an unfaithful love interest) and the single has a slightly repetitive bridge (which consists of melodic ‘la-la-la’s’); VV Brown introduces an edgier side to her image which exudes confidence and assertiveness. ‘Game Over’ is reminiscent of Lady Gaga not being mundane in the slightest and will ultimately have us all at her mercy!
‘Game Over’ is definitely one to look out for in the future: 3/5.
